Zurich Malaysia absorbs GST for new application and renewal of insurance policies & takaful certificates in the month of May
- In view of the recent announcement made by the Ministry of Finance on the zero-rating of the Good & Services Tax (GST) beginning 1 June 2018 onwards, Zurich Malaysia (Zurich General Insurance Malaysia Berhad, Zurich Life Insurance Malaysia Berhad & Zurich Takaful Malaysia Berhad) has made the decision to absorb the 6% GST incurred for new applications and renewal of insurance policies and takaful certificates in the month of May.
As a gesture of goodwill to its customers, the GST incurred for all new Individual Life Insurance policies and Family Takaful certificates issued between 1 May and 31 May will be credited back to the customers by the company. For its General Insurance and General Takaful business, the company will absorb the applicable GST for General Insurance policies and General Takaful certificates of which the effective date falls between 20 May and 31 May. The absorption is applicable to both new applications and renewal of policies or certificates.
