Zurich Malaysia To Launch New Offerings That Protect Against Impact Of Climate Risks

Zurich Insurance Group (Zurich) plans to introduce new products and services in Malaysia this year, specifically designed to meet customers; evolving needs, said chief customer officer Conny Kalcher.

The primary focus will be on safeguarding customers against the impacts of unforeseen weather and climate events.

"In the Malaysian market, we have observed that climate issues have significantly impacted the well-being of our local customers, such as the 2021 floods that affected 11 states across the country.

"During this period, the insurance and takaful industry covered 36 per cent of the overall losses, amounting to RM2.2 billion," she told Bernama.

Kalcher said the company previously gave Zurich Flood Aid Kits to insured individuals affected by floods using Zurich Flood Trucks, offering assistance and settling claims up to RM30,000 on the spot.

Additionally, she pointed out that about 37 per cent of registered claims were promptly settled within five working days, easing customers’ situations.

Kalcher emphasised Zurich Malaysia's consistent evolution to meet customer needs, whether in health, property protection, or safeguarding loved ones.

“Malaysia is a great example of how we have been able to comprehensively attend to customers from all walks of life, through our unique market position as the only global brand holding all four insurance and takaful licenses,” she said.

She said Zurich has built a global customer intelligence platform capable of providing needs-based, tailored suggestions and recommendations for every customer.

“We are enhancing our digital platforms to improve customer interaction and service delivery, aligning with our goals to meet and exceed customer expectations through innovative, accessible insurance and takaful solutions.

“We will continue our journey in innovation and digitalisation, whether to strengthen our customer-facing capabilities or to streamline internal operations to help us better understand customer needs,” she added.

Zurich Insurance Group is a global leading multi-line insurer serving people and businesses in more than 200 countries and territories.

As of December 2023, Zurich Malaysia ranks fifth in property-casualty insurance and takaful, and eleventh in life and family takaful.
